JOINT STATEMENT TO SUPPORT ZOMI NATIONAL CONGRESS (ZNC) PARTY’S BOYCOTT STATEMENT ON 2010 ELECTION MYANMAR

DATE. 24th October 2010

We, the ethnic people of Zomi supported Burma/Myanmar’s election 1990 - which resulted from the nation-wide pro-democracy movement -1988, voting successfully Zomi National Congress (ZNC) party believing it’s policy and strategy. As the world known, the ZNC party also leading the people Zomi from the frontline and constantly stand to throwing-away the military policy of dictatorship governing system, for the establishment of the genuine Federal Union of Burma without any fallback. The people of Zomi continously fought against in every warfare by attacking colonialism, facism, any forms of dictatorship for the freedom of people and national unity throughout the generations in Zomi history, and We, the whole people of Zomi being awared that the ZNC is taking the leading part from the frontline of democracy movement in Burma/Myanmar even in present situation.

The military regime’s one-sided prepared of the 2008 - Nargis Constitution totally nullified and overthrew all the efforts to build-up a Federal Union of Burma policy, signated after General Aung San and our people leaders made agreement with respect of people’s desire which would guarantee human rights and freedom, peace and just, with unity in 1947, rather, the so-called 2008-Constitution is to strengthen the military government to legalised their dictatorship policy alone. In regards, such the ZNC statement on it, is the only true and necessity to go forwards in situation. Moreover, the Zomi Youths democracy activist leaders Pu Kam Lam Khup and Pu Kam Khan Khual are being unjustly detained in prison along with over 2200 political prisoners because of their believes, arrested in Burma/Myanmar. We clearly know that our well-known political leader are still under the military’s detaintion centres without giving freedom in the situation today, and the grave violation of the so-called Nargis Constitution 2008 is without ratification announced to use by the military authority then even forced to convence the 2010 election.

Therefore, We, the people of Zomi whole community could not agree to convence such forced and unfair election of the 2010 election and boycott.

We, the people of Zomi, again strongly comdemned the military regime who neglecting the people’s petitions after severally informed the occurring femines along with the fear in daily livings under the threatenings and insecurity condition of the people of Zomi, rather, the authorities keeping supported and permitted to occupy freely moving with arms and weapons unto the foreign insurgency armed groups, and even giving permission to run opium platations unlawfully, onto our peaceful Zomi inhabited areas.

Includingly the United Nations , EU countries, USA, Russia, China, India and ASIAN countries urging to call a free and fair election with the participation of the majority people of Burma to the one sided Burma/Myanmar military dictatorship authorities by hopping for the change in Burma. Instead of it, if all the international communities keep in mind to pressurise and taking all possible action(s) to up-rooting for the stop all the action plans of the military dictatorship policy - it will be the only possible way of helping to build the geniune and true democracy in this transitional period in Burma/Myanmar.

We, the people of Zomi standing on the result of 1990 election, and believing that the only political way of dialogue is to solve the people long suffering and tremendous problems constantly facing without ceased in Burma/Myanmar. In case, therefore, the people’s facing several problems and hardships in Burma such; the broken national unity, the losing people freedom and the rights of independence, the abolishing democracy, the abuses of the human rights, the poverty of people and refugees problems... and so on,

We, the people of Zomi believed that the main neccessity of the nation, the only possible way of solution be ”to convent the national reconcilation and tripartite dialogue” as early as possible in Burma/Myanmar.

For all and every people of Zomi, who presently serving as Burma/Myanmar army personals, each of the every government servants, the people who serving for the people in religious organizations, different sects and churches, including the every level of the grass-root people of Zomi,… We, would like to inform you to make a clear decision with self-determination, to know it is the right time for standing together with unity by realizing our national duty as a Zomi, then to follow on behind and the footprint of our people’s leaders who are using our generic name Zomi National Congress ZNC and it leadership for the establishment of the genuine Federal Union democratic system in our country Burma/Myanmar, rather than serving blindly by looking own benefit under the leading of military dictatorship governing policy.

Therefore, in facts, We, the people of Zomi shall firmly stand and handling together with all the supporters of Burma’s democracy movement such: the international community, governments or non – government organizations, civil societies and religious sectors, churches, personals including the democratic alliances and ethnic nationalities alliances for the establishment of the geniune Federal Union of democracy country in Burma/Myanmar, and

We declared our boycott on the 2010 election which will strengthen for the long live of military dictatorship policy in Burma/Myanmar.
